Lithuania might ban energy drink advertising - The Baltic Times

Sep 20, 2012

VILNIUS ? Lithuanian government is pushing a ban on energy drink advertising in youth events and youth publications and limit advertising in other sorts of publications. However, the government does not intend to ban marketing energy drinks.

"We will be looking for some other solutions," Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius told reporters, when asked why the government was not going to ban selling such drinks to young people, writes LETA/ELTA.

PM said that it will be looked at how other countries resolve such issues.

Justice Minister Remigijus Simasius says that discussions on advertising ban are good in themselves because this, according to him, would make at least some teenagers think twice before consuming energy drinks.

However, the minister urges not to forget what problems could crop up along with a marketing ban. "We should not be looking at the ban through rose-colored glasses. The ban could bring some definite financial outcomes," he said on Wednesday.
